University of Mississippi Medical Center clinics will remain closed through Wednesday, as work to ensure a safe network environment continues following last week’s cyberattack.
The UMMC Triage Line has been established to allow patients to leave a message through a secure, automated voice system. Requests for time-sensitive needs, such as medication refills or postoperative care visits, will be prioritized.

Michael James, a transfer from Meridian Community College and product of H.W. Byers High School in Byhalia, has emerged as the leader of the Mississippi Valley State University men’s basketball team this season.
The 6-foot-1 junior lifted the Delta Devils to victory Saturday, only their second of the season, as he stole the in-bounds pass with seconds remaining on the clock to help MVSU claim a 72-71 Southwestern Athletic Conference win over visiting Texas Southern at the Harrison HPER Complex in Itta Bena.

House speaker Jason White addressed the Stennis Press Forum at Hal & Mal's in downtown Jackson this week, laying out his plans for the legislative session and how the House of Representatives will work with the Senate over the next few weeks.
White addressed school choice, PERS, teacher pay raises, Pharmacy Benefits Manager legislation and a host of other issues.

Both the Grenada High School Chargers and Lady Chargers were both in a win or go home situation last week at the Class 6A, Region 1 Tournament hosted at South Panola High School.
Kendrick Conley’s girls opened played against Saltillo last Tuesday and cruised to a 70-39 victory, moving them to the semifinals. There, they faced top-seeded Olive Branch and dropped a 69-48 decision last Thursday.
The girls moved to the consolation playing Lake Cormorant. In that game, GHS emerged with a 57-46 win to finish third. GHS stands at 19-6 following the week of play.

Heading into last weeks Midsouth Association of Independent Schools Class AAA State Basket-ball Tournament at Kirk Academy, Coach Josh Zeitz and the Raiderettes had two goals – to win a state championship and qualify for Overall Tournament. They accomplished one of those goals.
Last Thursday, Kirk found themselves in a four-quarter game with the South AAA Champion – Amite School Center from Liberty. The Raiderettes used a 23-12 fourth quarter to pull away for a 55-39 victory.

University of Mississippi Medical Center has closed all of its clinics on Thursday to a cybersecurity attack.
UMMC issued the following statement:
"Due to a cybersecurity attack, many UMMC IT systems are down, including access to our electronic medical records, Epic.
"Today, all UMMC clinic locations statewide are closed. Outpatient and ambulatory surgeries/procedures and imaging appointments are cancelled and will be rescheduled. Hospital services are continuing for our patients using downtime procedures.

Jackson Mayor John Horhn has selected Dr. RaShall Brackney to be the new police chief of Jackson.
Most of Brackney’s career, 30 years, was in the Pittsburgh Police Bureau. She later served as chief of campus police at George Washington University and, most recently, police chief in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Brackney takes over from interim chief Tyree Jones, also serving as Hinds County Sheriff. This week she visited Jackson where she spoke to various groups and was shown around town by Mayor Horhn.

Investigators with the Grenada Police Department and Grenada County Sheriff's Office search for shell casings at the scene of a shooting Monday afternoon on Dean Drive.
An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting Monday afternoon on Dean Drive that left two men injured and drew a large law enforcement response in the heart of Grenada.
Marshall Phillips, 19, of Water Valley was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 17, and charged with two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the incident, Grenada Police Department Chief George Douglas said Wednesday afternoon. Phillips is being held in the Grenada County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Deputies with the Grenada County Sheriff's Office assist investigators with the Grenada Police Department at the scene of a shooting Monday afternoon on Dean Drive.
A shooting just before 1 p.m. Monday on Dean Drive left two people injured and drew a heavy response from multiple law enforcement agencies in the heart of the city.
Officers from the Grenada Police Department and deputies from the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office converged on the scene where they documented and recovered numerous bullets and shell casings scattered in the area. MedStat Emergency Medical Services personnel also responded to the scene. Both victims were taken from the scene for treatment.
