Two men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder, in addition to other charges, following what has been described as a shootout at a Tallulah apartment complex in October.
25-year-old Devarien Reese and 21-year-old Jaylin Lewis were taken into custody by Madison Parish Sheriff’s deputies following multiple reports of shooting taking place at both Madison and Wyche apartments Sat., Oct. 16.
According to MPSO, deputies and officers with Tallulah Police Department responded to the call, however, no suspects were immediately identified.
“A large amount of spent shell casings were found in the parking lots of both apartment buildings,” MPSO Investigator and Public Information Officer Brandon Wiltcher said. “Madison Parish Sheriff’s CID was called to investigate the incident. MPSO CID was able to determine the identity of the shooters involved in the incident. Two suspects were subsequently arrested.”
In addition to attempted second degree murder, Reese was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and illegal discharge of a weapon. Lewis was charged with attempted second degree murder and illegal discharge of a weapon.
MPSO officials said they believe the incident escalated from a verbal altercation, adding no one was injured during the incident and the investigation remains open, with more arrests pending.
