A Tallulah police officer acted within the scope of his duties during an arrest at Madison Apartments on March 31, Police Chief Buster McCoy said.
McCoy said Officer Ray’vion Gamble legally detained LaDavia Jackson, 25, at the apartment complex. Jackson damaged a vehicle and was then advised she was under arrest, McCoy said.
According to McCoy, Jackson resisted arrest and was charged with resisting an officer by violence, resisting an officer and criminal damage to property.
McCoy said video from Madison Apartments shows the initial contact that led to the escalation of events through the arrest. He said the footage confirms Jackson’s actions and the charges.
“The narrative circling around the video on social media is incorrect,” McCoy said.
McCoy said Gamble acted within the scope of his duties and that the force used was justified and reasonable due to the totality of the circumstances.
McCoy said Gamble is not under investigation by the State of Louisiana.
