Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Shirley Ann Ritchey Holland, 86, of Gore Springs, who died on Saturday, Dec. 6, at her residence. Burial followed in Drew Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Burke officiated. The family received friends from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Dec. 9, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, Dec. 10, all at McKibben and Guinn.

Meteorologists are monitoring the potential for winter weather and freezing rain for parts of Louisiana through the weekend. Northwest parishes could experience ice accumulations that could lead to hazardous road conditions and localized power outages.
The winter weather will also bring freezing temperatures to most of the area on Sunday through Tuesday that could threaten exposed pipes.

Louisiana has the highest average combined state and local sales tax rate in the nation, at 10.11%, according to the Tax Foundation’s latest state-by-state roundup for 2026.
The ranking reflects Louisiana’s unusually high mix of state and local levies. The state rate is 5%, and local governments add an average of a little more than five points on top of that.

The warning will be in effect from 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, through 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, and covers Grenada, Webster, Montgomery, Carroll, Holmes and Yazoo counties. Forecasters said significant icing is expected, with ice accumulations of up to one inch and additional sleet possible.
