In the sport of American football, there is a great deal of talk about statistics. Team stats, player stats, coach stats, et al. Once in a discussion of player stats with friends, I noted, “Statistics do not win football games; however, in winning football games, statistics will be produced.”

The Air National Guard is hosting the Sentry South 26-2 exercise Feb. 20 to March 6, at the Gulfport Combat Readiness Training Center, Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center, and other locations around the state.
The Air National Guard announced this week that approximately 1,100 service members from active, guard and reserve components of the U.S. military are participating in this combat training exercise.

A man was arrested Feb. 18 after a woman reported that her former boyfriend was stalking her and was outside her residence with a rifle, according to the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said it received a call from a woman who stated that her former boyfriend was stalking her and that she believed he was outside her residence with a rifle.
Deputy Smith responded and saw a Black male wearing camouflage clothing jump a fence and run on foot, authorities said. Rodney Mitchell, Black male, date of birth May 26, 1999, was taken into custody.

During a House Education Committee meeting held this week in Jackson, Chairman State Rep. Rob Roberson (R) announced it would be their “last meeting.”
“This is our only meeting that we will be having, from what I am understanding, just to give you all a heads up,” Roberson said during the brief five-minute committee meeting. “These two bills are what we are bringing out. An equipment failure at the Tallulah water plant left customers across the city without water pressure Friday and prompted a systemwide boil water advisory.
Magnolia Water reported that one of the plant’s two aerators failed Feb. 20, disrupting operations at the production site and causing low to no water pressure for all customers served by the Tallulah water system, WSID LA1065003. The outage affects the entire 71282 ZIP code.
Crews began repairs on the failed aerator as the outage continued.
