Expenditures on the LaCarte procurement card will be examined as part of a broader crackdown by the Louisiana Fiscal Responsibility Program. The program, modeled after the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency, has found almost $1 billion in inefficiencies across state government, Gov. Jeff Landry announced Wednesday.

Former Grenada High School football coach Michael Fair gives the Chargers' offense instruction from the sideline during a home game last season.
In three years, Michael Fair compiled a 32-9 record as head football coach at Grenada High School. Thursday, the veteran coach made it official that he is taking over at perennial power South Panola.
Fair replaces Brooks Oakley, who resigned in November 2025, following the Tigers’ 28-27 playoff loss to Neshoba Central.
It was a decision that didn’t come easy for the Carroll County native.

The House Education Committee this week advanced its chamber’s omnibus public education overhaul — but only by a few votes.
It signals the battle to expand school choice in Mississippi, including spending millions of tax dollars on private schooling – Republican House Speaker Jason White’s pet issue this session – is far from over. Senate leaders have said the House bill is a nonstarter, and White has had to wrangle with reluctance or opposition from some of his own Republican caucus in the House.

President Trump is a master at keeping attention on himself, but when he goes too far he exposes himself to criticism.
Sometimes this is well deserved. A good example is the recent news that his Justice Department has issued subpoenas to leaders of the Federal Reserve over Senate testimony about the $2.5 billion cost of renovating the central bank’s 90-year-old building in Washington.
