Friends, family, and community members gathered Thursday at the Tallulah-Madison Community Center to celebrate the 102nd birthday of Rufus Puckett.
Puckett was born Aug. 8, 1923, and served in the United States Army during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and at Normandy, serving under Gen. George S. Patton in the Third Army as a combat engineer.
After his discharge from the Army, Puckett moved to Tallulah, where he has lived since.
“I feel good. The Lord has been good to me,” Puckett said.
