Notice of promulgation of Madison Parish Police Jury Ordinance 2023-01
On September 25, 2023, The Madison Parish Polic Jury unanimously adopted Ordinance 2023-01: An Ordinance providing for the merger and/or consolidation of certain voting precincts pursuant to LA. R.S. 18:532.1 and specifically,
WHEREAS, the 2023 canvass has been completed and some precincts within the parish have been identified to contain less than 300 registered active voters; and
WHEREAS, a parish is required to take action on each precinct with less than 300 registered active voters; and
WHEREAS Louisiana State Law allows for precinct mergers (thereby eliminating a precinct), consolidation of polling places if mergers are not possible to reduce the number of commissioners needed and therefore reduce election expenses or to request an exemption.
WHEREAS the following is a list of all Voting Precincts including those Precincts Merged or Consolidated to reduce the cost of elections in Madison Parish:

MERGED PRECINCTS
PRECINCT 15 (MERGING 15 AND 16)
The point of beginning being the intersection of East Levee Street and North Cedar Street; thence, northeasterly on North Cedar Street to McKinley Street; thence, generally northwesterly on McKinley Street to a legal/statistical boundary line that does not correspond to a shoreline or other visible feature on the ground (MTFCC-P0001)[extension of McKinley Street]; thence, northwesterly along said extension to the Missouri Pacific Railroad; thence, northeasterly along the Missouri Pacific Railroad to Panola Bayou; thence, southeasterly along Panola Bayou to US Highway 65; thence, northeasterly on US Highway 65 to Fair Street; thence, southeasterly on Fair Street to Bailey Street; thence, generally southerly on Bailey Street to East Bayou Drive; thence, westerly on East Bayou Drive to Bond Road; thence, northerly on Bond Road to East Darrow Street; thence, northerly on East Darrow Street to the Corporate Boundaries of Tallulah; thence, northerly along the Corporate Boundaries of Tallulah to a legal/statistical boundary line that does not correspond to a shoreline or other visible feature on the ground (MTFCC-P0001)[extension of Bond Road]; thence, northerly along said extension to Bond Road; thence, northerly on Bond Road to East Levee Street; thence, westerly on East Levee Street back to the point of beginning.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Madison Parish Police Jury in legal session convened this 25th day of September 2023 that on motion by Mr. Hughes and duly seconded by Mr. Hicks, to adopt this ordinance by the following vote(s):
