Madison Parish 4-H is seeking assistance from local organizations, churches, and businesses to help maintain its Blessing Box, a food-sharing project that began earlier this year.
The Blessing Box, located at Loving Hearts Ministry, was dedicated on April 21 in a ceremony led by the 4-H Junior Leaders. It operates on a “Take what you need, leave what you can” basis and is open to anyone in the community.
The project was launched with canned goods collected during a 4-H food drive in April and stocked by members for the month of May. Since then, outside groups have helped keep the box supplied, including Flower’s Palace #70, Order of the Eastern Star, which provided items for June.

“Now we need the community’s help to keep it going,” said Andrea Jinks, Madison Parish 4-H agent. “We need different organizations, churches, businesses or other groups to help stock the Blessing Box for a month of the year.”
Jinks said that groups have already committed to covering the months of August and September. October remains available, with 2026 open as well.
Anyone interested in participating is asked to contact Jinks at 318-574-2465 or message her directly. Once a group selects a month, 4-H will provide a suggested list of items and guidance on restocking the box.
The Blessing Box is part of Madison Parish 4-H’s broader efforts to involve youth in service and address food insecurity in the community.
