It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Dillard Mathis, a loving mother and grandmother, supportive sister, caring aunt, and devoted friend. She left this world peacefully at her home in Vinton, LA on, May 25, 2025. Born in Delhi, Louisiana, Arlene spent most of her life in Tallulah. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vinton and was known for her warmth, creativity, and deep love for her family.
Arlene’s greatest accomplishments in life were her three beautiful daughters, whose lives she enriched with her unconditional love, kindness, and unwavering support. Her nurturing spirit extended to her home, where she took immense joy in creating a space that reflected her keen eye for decorating and gardening. Beyond her abilities in homemaking, Arlene held a special place in her heart for her pets. Their companionship brought her immense joy and happiness, and she cared for them with the same love and dedication she showed to her family.
All who knew Arlene will deeply miss her gentle presence, kindheart, and vibrant love for life. She leaves behind her daughters, Charlyce Todd of Shreveport, Jayna Smith and husband, Barron of Mendenhall, Mississippi, and Samantha Jefferson and husband, Tucker of Monroe; her sister, Charlene Nichols of Vinton; her grandchildren, Piper Todd Sellars and husband, Kenny of DeBerry, Texas, Sam Thomas Cahill, Jace Smith, and Rosalie Dylan Jefferson; and great-granddaughter, Dylan Ann Sellars.
Arlene was preceded in death by her father, J.C. Dillard; her mother, Leona (Ted) F. Dillard; and a grandson, Dylan Keith Todd.
A memorial service celebrating Arlene’s life will be held in Tallulah, Louisiana at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends.
