The Southern Heritage Air Foundation will host its annual air show Oct. 18–19 at the Vicksburg-Tallulah Regional Airport after a three-year break.
Organizers said this year’s event will feature 13 aerobatic performances, the Rollin’ Thunder jet truck, a twilight air show Oct. 18, and an afternoon show Oct. 19. Other events include a car and truck display, pre-show radio-controlled demonstrations, a gathering of World War II 354th Fighter Group families, and a NASA STEM activity zone.
The U.S. Army Golden Knights are scheduled to perform and present during the twilight show. The event will also mark the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as well as the 200th anniversary of Vicksburg. Col. Jeremiah Gipson, commander of the Vicksburg District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will take part in a ceremonial cake cutting.
Live music will be performed in front of the “7 Days for the Troops” Honor Tower, including the 41st Mississippi Army Band, Leah Rose, and local groups. Helicopter and plane rides will also be available.
Organizers said proceeds will benefit four veterans’ organizations: the Southern Heritage Air Foundation, Warrior Bonfire Program, 7 Days for the Troops, and Purple Heart Homes.
