Big changes are coming to garbage collection in Senatobia.
In a move to cut down on monthly and yearly costs, the Board of Aldermen used a 4-1 vote and approved a proposal earlier this month to outsource the city’s garbage collection to Waste Pro. Aldermen also authorized a monthly rate hike from $18 to $23 for residential customers and an increase from $20 to $30 in commercial rates. That motion passed by a 3-2 margin.

Poor Speaker White. His omnibus school choice bill got short shrift in the Senate. His resort now appears to be name calling. “Senate leadership has aligned themselves with the ACLU, Southern Poverty Law Center, the Mississippi Democratic Party, and the status quo,” he whined.

While expressing frustration over the failure of school choice legislation this session, Speaker of the Mississippi House Jason White (R) said this week that calling a special session to reconsider the bill is “not off the table.”
His signature legislation, HB 2, narrowly passed in the House before moving to the Senate Education Committee. There, within 90 seconds, the education freedom bill was unanimously killed by a voice vote.

Intention and innovation are around every corner at Mississippi’s first children’s museum.
There are certain places in Mississippi that don’t just hold space — they hold seasons of life.
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport is one of those places.
I used to take my sons there when they were little, in the days of snack cups and “Mama, watch this!”—a pure slice of motherhood.
