Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has purchased a new building in Southaven to boost its computing power.
This is the tech company’s latest expansion into Mississippi. The property at 2400 Stateline Road is a short drive from xAI’s natural gas power plant that the company bought in July 2025. The former Duke Power plant will power xAI’s two data centers across the state line in Memphis.
According to property records, MZX Tech, an LLC associated with xAI, purchased the property on Dec. 23.

She says she was not informed of an upcoming appointment in the mail until after the appointment passed – a reality she worries will be the new normal for many families now that the federal government mandated more red tape for the program.

For much of Thursday night’s Sugar Bowl showdown with Georgia, it looked as if Ole Miss’ dream football season was careening toward a rude wake-up call.
Luckily for Rebel fans, Trinidad Chambliss found the snooze button.
The Ole Miss quarterback put together a performance for the ages, passing for 362 yards and two touchdowns to rally his team to a stunning 39-34 win over the SEC Champion Bulldogs.

The Tate County Economic Development Foundation (EDF) has released its executive director from employment, effective December 31.
Anna Cardona has served the community as EDF Executive Director since September 2024 and was brought in to work in both retail and industrial development. She previously served at the Economic Development Growth Engine (EDGE) for Memphis and Shelby County, where she played a role in business expansion and investment.

What started out as a simple letter to the Ole Miss football team has turned into something much bigger for 8-year-old Conrad Kidder.
Kidder is a third-grade student from Magnolia Heights School in Senatobia. His mother, Callie Calhoun Kidder, graduated from Pillow Academy in 2003, so there are many family members who still reside in Greenwood.

The main character in Charles Dickens’ classic tale “A Christmas Carol” was so hard-hearted a businessman that when he gets a glimpse of his likely future, he is mortified to witness two of his debtors expressing thankfulness over his death, as they believe whoever becomes their new creditor cannot be as mean as Scrooge.

James Tyler, 89, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025 at his residence in Canton.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel in Canton.

I’ve been around the newspaper business for about 55 of my 65 years, having started out in this profession throwing papers at the tender age of ten in West Point.
Delivering newspapers every afternoon five days a week and then trying to collect for your services on weekends will teach you a lot about business and people.
In 1970 a paper could be bought for 10-cents. A week’s subscription could be purchased for 35-cents and a whole month’s worth for $1.25. A lot of things have changed since 1970.

, Greenwood Police are outside of Greenwood Leflore Hospital after four people were shot during an incident in the 300 block of East Market Street on Christmas Eve.
Four people were shot in Greenwood on Christmas Eve, two of them fatally.
Leflore County Coroner Debra Sanders said she received a call at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday in regard to a shooting incident on the 300 block of East Market Street.
The two people who died from the shooting were Dennis Outlaw, 33, and Hilliard Roby, 28, both of Greenwood. Both men died from multiple gunshot wounds, Sanders said.
