Real Change, Leadership, Accountability & Qualified Council Members
Hello District 3 & Tallulah residents, I am Leandra Mitchell, running for your District 3 City Council seat to represent our District. I am the son of the late Rev. Eddie & Mary Mitchell of Tallulah. I grew up here, went to school here & graduated from McCall, Class of 1972, & am a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. I taught school & coached in Madison Parish.
Tallulah, help us make the real changes Tallulah needs. Real change requires real leadership, but before we can bring businesses into our city, we must fix the problems we have first to make it livable & better for everyone.
If our city has a small budget, they need to find ways to bring more money in or lay offs, a hiring freeze, cutting hours or salaries temporarily; that’s what real leadership would do! Start talking to your state representatives & senators about funds for small populated cities. Let’s stop talking about our problems and start finding solutions. We need a leader to put in the hard work & not make excuses!
We as citizens must hold the people we elect accountable for not getting things done. We must stop electing the same handful of people every four years, getting the same results. Please stop voting on popularity, titles & friendship & vote for the most qualified candidate that has good character.
When you learn better, you do better. I feel that I can better serve you because I am retired & have local & state leadership & board experience and will dedicate my time to District 3 & the City Council.
As I watched the last City Council meeting, on 3/26/2026,
the council discussed approving the audit & its resolution for Section 8, but no one had any questions or comments except Council Man Wells, because it went over its budget and had no documentation to show what was paid. They didn’t know how to interpret the resolution; he had to read & explain it to them & asked to table it until the next meeting.
It was up to be motioned but was resent back to be tabled until the next meeting. I say again we need qualified people on the council. They had the same information that he did. This is why I am running, because there is no concern from all the council members about transparency or accountability for our city budget.
The council must take time to read & interpret the documents they receive before voting on anything or before making hasty decisions without documentation, facts or research. All the decisions they make affect our City’s future by helping us to save or lose money, so making the right decisions is very important.
I want the best for Tallulah & will always work together for a better future for this city.
Vote for the most qualified with EXPERIENCE, not on popularity!
I am asking for your vote, prayers & support during this Primary Election, May 16, 2026.
VOTE Leandra Mitchell District 3 City Council Ballot #62
May God bless you & the City of Tallulah!
