Dear Community Members,
I am profoundly grateful for the trust you have placed in me as your Chief of Police. To my team, who have supported my vision and worked tirelessly to bring it to fruition, thank you for your service. Our collective efforts of transformative progress have brought statewide recognition to the department. The department has evolved and thrived under my proven leadership with measurable results.
Presently:
1. I am a chief, who is a 30-year post certified veteran law enforcement officer with extensive experience in administration. My experience anchors my department’s stability and progress.
2. I have obtained hundreds of hours in continuing education in law enforcement, which keeps me abreast of legislative updates, and cutting-edge law enforcement technology and techniques.
3. My department has seized over 500 guns off the streets of Tallulah.
4. The following are some of my numerous accomplishments during my tenure as Chief of Police:
A. Updated criminal ordinances, and policies and procedures for the department.
B. Increased salaries and benefits for officers.
C. Increased the number of post certified officers.
D. Purchased a fleet of police vehicles with state-of-the-art computer systems and radios, along with first-class training and equipment.
E. Established a probation program not for punishment, but to rehabilitate offenders.
F. Modernized the court system and added zoom court.
G. Implemented a legal curfew to stop senseless violence in our community. Since the implementation, shootings and overall violence have decreased.
H. Increased the revenue of the city by more than 1.6 million Dollars.
I. Established municipal expungements of criminal records.
Now let’s talk about the future:
1. My investigator and I are certified Crisis Intervention Officers. Mental health issues are on the rise in our community, and my officers will be trained in Crisis Intervention to assist and protect our citizens in mental health emergencies.
2. I will establish the following:
A. A youth advocate program in partnership with the school system to educate our children about the justice system and how it will affect their lives.
B. Establish a ride-along program to allow citizens to understand the challenges, hazards and rewards of a police officer’s role in the community.
C. Establish faith-based partnerships to engage with local faith leaders to address neighborhood safety and provide social support throughout our community.
3. I have obtained approval for funding and will renovate the Tallulah Police Department sally port to accommodate the department’s growth and development.
4. I received approval for a $50,000 LGAP grant, and it will be used to purchase police safety equipment.
