Ty'Taejah Rivera, a 2025 graduate of Madison High School, will attend Grambling State University this fall after receiving a $1,000 scholarship from the Madison Parish Alumni Chapter of the Grambling University National Alumni Association.
Rivera, the daughter of Montana Nelson and Steven Rivera, graduated on May 10. She plans to major in nursing and said she hopes to maintain the academic record she established in high school. She ranked third in her graduating class.
“I first considered the University of Louisiana at Monroe but changed my plans after visiting Grambling on school field trips,” Rivera said. “My interest grew during those visits.”
The scholarship was awarded by alumni who attended both Madison High and Grambling State. Adrienne Fountain, the Grambling Alumni Association’s Northeast Louisiana Regional Representative, joined the Madison Chapter in presenting the award during the school’s commencement ceremony. Rivera was recognized for her academic performance and leadership throughout high school.
At Madison High, she served as senior class treasurer, was a member of the National Honor Society and the Principal’s Advisory Council, performed in the marching band as a majorette, and held the title of Miss Madison High School for the 2023–24 school year.
The Madison Chapter said it was honored to recognize Rivera’s achievements and welcomed her to the Grambling community.
