A truck hit the Tallulah Water Service building on Thursday, Feb. 5, causing damage that forced the office to close for several days, according to officials.
The office will be closed for the remainder of Thursday and all day Friday. It is scheduled to reopen Monday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m. Water payments will be accepted only through the side window. The lobby will remain closed while repairs are made.
No members of the public were inside the lobby at the time of the crash. One employee was behind the counter and was not struck but was shaken. Authorities said the driver experienced a medical episode that caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and enter the building. The driver was not injured. The driver’s identity has not been released.

The damage was to the front portion of the building near the main entrance. Brick was displaced from the exterior wall beside the doorway, exposing insulation and framing. Inside the lobby, sections of wall and ceiling material fell to the floor near the entrance. The vehicle involved, a pickup truck, sustained damage to its front end and driver-side panel.
The Tallulah Police Department, the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Northeast Louisiana Ambulance Service responded to the crash.
