Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a family that resides on Highway 610 near the Madison/Franklin Parish line; per MPSO Spokesperson Brandon Wiltcher, the family member was reporting that elderly parents had apparently been scammed out of some money. Some of the money had been withdrawn from their bank account totaling between $3000 and $4000. Once the relative began to check into the incident, they discovered that someone had apparently used the elderly parents’ personal information to set up several insurance accounts for vehicles through Progressive Insurance; this started in April of this year.
Once MPSO received the complaint, Progressive Insurance was contacted, and through search warrants information was obtained to see where the accounts were set up. Four separate insurance accounts were set up in the names of Keymoshon Washington, 45 and Wanda Banks, 44. Information was then matched up with Progressive and the insurance accounts on what was being withdrawn from the bank.
With the help of Delhi Police Department, Washington and Banks were able to be taken into custody. Shortly thereafter, Lekeythe Hunter, 43 was also taken into custody. More arrests are still pending. Once the arrests were made, the missing monies were able to be deposited back into the victims’ bank account. Felony charges include exploitation of the infirmed and identity theft.
