The Madison High School Jaguars will kick off the 2022 season Friday night at home in Tallulah versus the Lincoln Prep Panthers and Head Coach Milton Green is looking for improvement from his team in his second year on the sidelines.
Hampered by continuing COVID complications and a small roster in 2021, the Jags ended Green's first year in Tallulah with only one win, but the head coach said he saw plenty of potential from a squad that led at halftime eight times last year.
"For us to have 14 players, the smallest team in Louisiana, they've got the biggest hearts in the world," Green said at season's end. "This whole year, we've led at halftime eight out of ten games with just 14 players. That just shows the grit and grind they put into this."
In 2022, the Jags will be led by senior Jeremiah Marshall at quarterback, as well as a host of new faces at various positions, after MHS lost eight players to graduation.
The Jags will kick off the season facing an 0-1 Panthers team in non-district play. The Panthers in week one fell 14-0 to the Red River Bulldogs.
The Jaguars will open Class 2A, District 2 play on the road in Ferriday September 23.
Kickoff for Friday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
