The Lady Gators of Delhi Charter School went 1-1 last week at home versus two different Tigers teams.
DCS knocked off the Sicily Island Lady Tigers Thursday night at home, but fell to the Oak Grove Lady Tigers Friday in Delhi to end the week at .500 for the season.
The Lady Gators improved to 6-5 Thursday with a 49-28 win over Sicily Island. DCS fell Friday night to the Oak Grove Lady Tigers in a 38-26 loss.
DCS Head Coach Chad Clark said, despite Friday’s loss, he has been impressed with the Lady Gators’ progress so far this season.
“I was very pleased with the girls’ effort,” Clark said. “We don’t have a lot of depth, but the ones we have out there work their tails off every game. We have to sharpen up some things to maximize our potential, but we are getting there.”
The Lady Gators nearly got there Friday night, before falling behind in the second period. After one quarter, DCS led Oak Grove 10-9, but trailed 23-17 going into halftime. DCS trailed by only 8 heading into the final period, but were unable to overcome the scoring gap, eventually falling by 12.
The Lady Gators will next be in action Dec. 27-30 in tournament play in Caldwell Parish, before taking on Jena. Jan. 4, on the road.
