The Madison High School Jaguars are waiting to find out if they will have a spot in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) playoffs after a fight during its game last week with Vidalia High School resulted in a forced forfeit of Friday's conference game with General Trass by LHSAA officials.
MHS head coach Milton Green declined to address the specifics of the incident, but did confirm the LHSAA handed down the punishment after MHS players left the sideline during the Vidalia game. Green said he believes his players entered the field in order to help "break up the fight" but added the action of leaving the sideline is what he thinks prompted the penalty from the LHSAA.
Green said MHS was the No. 28 seed, but is unsure how missing the conference game against General Trass will ultimately impact the Jags' post-season hopes.
The Jaguars are currently 3-6 on the year and 0-5 in Class 2A, District 2 play. Initial brackets for the LHSAA playoffs will be released following Friday's slate of games.
