The City of Tallulah has rescheduled soil borings samples originally slated to be taken Friday. Those samples will now be taken on University Street, Tank Street and Florida Street today, Wed., Nov. 30.
Those traveling these roads can expect these streets to be reduced to one lane on this date.
City of Tallulah officials said the soil borings are needed for the upcoming rehabilitation projects planned for the three streets.
Once the trio of streets are ready to begin rehab work, city officials said grant money in the amount of $799,300 will be put to good use improving the roadways.
“This is a great opportunity for the City of Tallulah to do real roadwork in our municipality,” Tallulah Mayor Charles Finlayson said. “This grant will help us fully reconstruct, not overlay or patch but fully re-construct, three major streets in our city. The streets are Tank Street (from Levee to Chester Drive); University Street (from Tank Street to Washington) and Florida Street (from Johnson Street to LaSalle Street). My hat is off to our team for putting together a great grant application.”
Grant funds for the roadwork are from the FY 2022 Louisiana Community Development Block Grant (LCDBG) from the State of Louisiana Office of Community Development (OCD).
