Two shootings were reported in Tallulah over the Christmas weekend, and three arrests have been made, according to Tallulah Police Chief Buster McCoy.
The first shooting occurred Dec. 26, 2025, on the block of East Levee and North Walnut streets. Officers made contact with Robert Alexander, who reported that two male subjects shot at his home.
During the investigation, officers obtained video footage that showed Alexander exited his home and fired shots at two male subjects who were standing on a corner. The subjects returned fire, striking the home, McCoy said.
Alexander was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of domestic abuse battery. His bond was set at $125,000. He is being held at the Madison Parish Jail.
A second shooting occurred Dec. 27, 2025, at 608 Wyche St. Officers made contact with the victim, Darryl Bright, who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.
Bright was transported to Madison Parish Hospital and later transported by AirEvac to another medical facility for treatment, McCoy said.
Bright identified his assailant as Shaunta Houston, born July 4, 1990, and stated Houston shot him through the passenger window of a vehicle.
Houston was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder. His bond was set at $150,000. He is being held at the Madison Parish Jail.
In a separate incident on Dec. 27, 2025, an unidentified subject threw an object through the front glass door of Beene’s Pharmacy. The pharmacy was not entered, and nothing was taken. The investigation is ongoing, McCoy said.
