I was watching a video on Facebook that really spoke to me. It was about a young Black girl that was approached by a pageant recruiter to be in the Miss USA pageant. She was a beautiful young lady with a good attitude and had mapped out a clear path for her future.

My neighbor and I were talking recently about Hurricane Harvey and the devastation it has caused in Texas and Louisiana. Even though people were warned about how bad this storm could be many tried to ride it out in their homes and some have paid with their life.

Have you ever heard anyone say that I have lived my life the way I wanted and have absolutely no regrets? If you have this must have been a very contented person and left no stone unturned. Most of the time when someone is on their death bed you will hear them say I wish I had taken more time to do… or I wish I had done so and so.

Choose your friends wisely

As a newspaper editor and publisher for many years I have seen and witnessed many bright and intelligent young people going through our court systems. It wasn’t that they were bad kids because they weren’t. They left the safety and security of close friends and started hanging out with some of the kids that put the ways of the world first.
