A Tallulah woman was charged in connection with a drive-by shooting reported last week, according to Tallulah Police Chief Buster McCoy.
Police were dispatched at 5:53 p.m. Dec. 18 to McClure Street after a report of gunfire. Officers from the Tallulah Police Department and the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office responded.
Investigators obtained video and audio footage from multiple locations in the surrounding area that showed a small blue vehicle firing multiple shots from inside the vehicle before leaving the area, McCoy said. Information provided by the victim led officers to identify the shooter and a vehicle matching the description.
Officers returned to the area and canvassed the scene, where they located a fired 9mm shell casing in the area where the suspect was shooting from inside the vehicle, McCoy said.
The suspect, identified as Channon Mitchell, was later apprehended and charged with one felony count of illegal use of weapons and one felony count of assault by drive-by shooting.
Mitchell was held on a $20,000 bond and posted bail on Dec. 21, McCoy said.
