The Tallulah water system reported a series of infrastructure and operational updates in the latest weekly field report ending June 13, 2025, submitted by Brad Thibault, Director of Operations Technical Services at Central States Water Resources.
According to the report addressed to Ms. Jennifer Kihlken, Deputy Chief Engineer of Field Operations for the Louisiana Department of Health, the majority of the week was dedicated to foundational improvements. "Most of the week was spent preparing the site and pouring the concrete pad and containment walls for the liquid lime tank that is to be installed; this is now complete," Thibault wrote.
Operational staff continued efforts to modernize water metering infrastructure. “Staff continue to replace water meters that do not function. In this process, we have found several leaking connections and meter boxes that need to be replaced,” the report noted. The replacement effort is aimed at identifying and addressing inefficiencies in the water distribution system.
In addition to meter replacements, the distribution team addressed and repaired two mainline leaks. The flushing of fire hydrants also remained a priority, with fourteen locations cleared this week to help maintain water quality. "Distribution staff continue to flush fire hydrants in the system to keep clear water flowing," Thibault stated.
The utility’s management team reviewed key assessments provided by PMG Consulting. One preliminary report included recommendations for enhanced process control testing, which will now be integrated into routine operations. “Management reviewed the preliminary assessment report from PMG Consulting, and the recommended process control testing will be incorporated into daily operations,” the update affirmed.
Additionally, a long-term assessment of the water treatment facility, also conducted by PMG Consulting, was reviewed by management on June 13, 2025.
Thibault also confirmed that “management is working on responses associated with an AO on the water system,” referencing the Administrative Order in place.
