A Tallulah man was arrested on a warrant in connection with a shots-fired incident that occurred in October at Brooklyn Heights Apartments, according to Tallulah Police Chief Buster McCoy.
McCoy said that on Oct. 11, 2025, at 12:02 p.m., officers responded to a shots-fired call at Brooklyn Heights Apartments, 701 North Chestnut Street in Tallulah. Officers made contact with the victim, Deontae Washington.
Washington had been involved in a physical fight earlier that day with the Ballet brothers at Sportsman Super Stop on Highway 65 South, McCoy said. Later that day, the brothers approached Washington at Brooklyn Heights.
According to McCoy, Jamarcus Ballet, 19, retrieved a gray and black gun from his waistband and fired one shot at Washington. The shot missed Washington and damaged private property.
Officers reviewed video footage that showed a single gunshot was fired and people running and screaming, McCoy said.
Police obtained a warrant for Jamarcus Ballet on charges of second-degree attempted murder, illegal use of a weapon and aggravated criminal damage to property.
Ballet was apprehended Feb. 10, 2026, at Madison Apartments on the executed warrant, McCoy said. His bond was set at $100,000.
Ballet is being held at the Madison Parish Jail.
