A man has been arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred early Sunday in Lake Providence.
Louisiana State Police said detectives from its Monroe Field Office arrested 19-year-old Zacorrion McCallum on charges of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, and obstruction of justice.
The arrest follows an investigation into the death of 18-year-old Tyson Jackson of Lake Providence. The East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office requested state police assistance after deputies responded to the 1200 block of Second Street around 1 a.m. Sunday.
McCallum was booked into the East Carroll Parish Detention Center.
State police are leading the investigation, with assistance from the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
