Regular Council Meeting
City of Tallulah
May 22, 2025
A regular council meeting of the Mayor and City Council was held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 5:30 P. M., in the Council Room Chamber of Tallulah City Hall.
Mayor Charles M. Finlayson called the meeting to order, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and prayer was led by Councilman Wells.

Public Commits on the Agenda:
Citizen Gloria Hayden requested an item being added to the agenda. Motion to add curfew discussion to the agenda made by Councilperson Wells and seconded by Councilperson Houston. Motion carried unanimously. A lengthy discussion took place from Citizen Hayden, Councilperson Wells and others. Chief McCoy addressed the concerns raised. The curfew will continue in place.
David Patterson was unable to attend the meeting to provide a water update. Discussion on the subject matter included question regarding hydrological study, would Magnolia be present to address the council/citizens, desire to have an update on work being done at the plant, financial obligations and any long term plans.
Approval of the minutes of the May 13, 2025, meeting made by Councilperson Houston and seconded by Councilperson Day. Vote included three yeas (Scott, Houston and Day) and one nay (Wells).
Approval of Change Order #1 for the Dabney Street project made by Councilperson Day and seconded by Councilperson Scott. Vote included three yeas (Scott, Houston, Day) and one nay (Wells).
Public Comments:
Citizen Frank Williams spoke regarding a sewage/drainage issue.
Councilperson Wells spoke regarding the current curfew.
Citizen Antonio Wilson spoke regarding his views on Mayor Finlayson’s political standpoints.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned. the meeting was made by Councilmembers Houston and Scott respectively carried.
