Regular Council Meeting
City of Tallulah
August 28, 2025
A regular meeting of the Mayor and City Council was held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 5:30 P.M., in the Council Room Chamber of Tallulah City Hall.
Mayor Yvonne Lewis called the meeting to order, lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and gave prayer.
A roll call of Councilmembers is listed as follows:

Prior Mayor Gloria Hayden raised an issue with the placement/rearrangement of implements of children.
Mayor Lewis also stated that she had self-reported her action which possibly could be participating in a “the Fair Grounds rehabilitation. She made her advisement from the standpoint of safety for the Walking Quorum” on a measure she had spoken to three councilmembers about. She stated that after thinking about the situation, she decided to send a letter describing the incident to the State Attorney General for an opinion.
A councilmember vote to approve minutes of the August 14, 2025, meeting was suspended upon learning that the Mayor had written the minutes instead of the City Clerk who is responsible for recording the minutes. Motion and second to table action on the minutes of August 14, 2025, were made by Councilmembers Day and Harris respectively which caried unanimously.
Councilmember Houston moved for approval of a Resolution Declaring Unusable Aerators At Wastewater Treatment Plant Surplus to be sold to the highest bidder. Councilmember Day seconded, and subsequently roll call vote is listed as follows:

Motion to approve Introduction to Adopt the Municipal Budgets for the City of Tallulah for the Fiscal Year Beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026, was made by Councilmember Day, seconded by Councilmember Scott, and subsequent roll call vote is listed as follows:

Motion carried.
An investigation audit discussion ensued, but City Attorney, Pamla Crews, advised the Council to table any action on the matter until an answer from the State Attorney General’s Office concerning the “walking quorum issue was received. At that point, the Council could take appropriate action on the matter. Motion and seconded to table the discussion were made by Councilmembers Day and Harris respectively and subsequent roll call vote is listed as follows:

Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Lewis presented her report to the Council in which she named certain parts of the town needing repair or upgrading such as a lining for the wastewater pond, replacement of burned-out city lights, and the City’s efforts to get grant money to refurbish as many streets as possible.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned by motion and second of Councilmembers Houston and Harris respectively and carried unanimously.
