Sydney R. Thomas, Sr., 92, of Vicksburg, MS, and Tallulah, LA, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026. A man of faith and service, he was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School and Alcorn State University, and a U.S. Army veteran who served at Fort Monmouth and in Korea.
Sydney earned a Master’s in Biology and Chemistry and spent many years teaching at Temple High School, McCall High School, and General Trass High School. After retiring, he continued serving his community as owner of Thomas and Sons Janitorial.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Tom Thomas, Sr.; his brother, Eddie; and daughters Vicky and Pearleesia. He is survived by his life partner of over 30 years, Patricia Ann Harvey; his brother, Tom; his children Keith, Corkey, Sydney Jr., Mariette, Cathy, Daniel, Roderick T., Annette, Diane, Chantra, Darrin, Pam, Roderick M., and Carolyn; grandchildren; and extended family.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, kindness, and lifelong dedication to others.
