A stretch of stormy and humid weather has settled over the Tallulah area, with thunderstorms impacting the region Saturday afternoon and more activity expected through Sunday.
Saturday Recap: Storms Bring Gusty Winds
On Saturday afternoon, a strong thunderstorm moved through northeastern Madison Parish and surrounding areas. The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement shortly before 4 p.m. for wind gusts up to 40 mph. Though no hail was reported, the gusty winds had the potential to knock down tree limbs and move unsecured outdoor items.
Showers and thunderstorms continue intermittently through the evening, with new rainfall amounts to be mostly light, generally under a tenth of an inch, though heavier bursts are possible within individual storms.
Tonight: Spotty Storms and Mild Temperatures
Saturday night will remain partly cloudy and warm. There's a 30% chance of additional thunderstorms, especially before midnight, with a slight chance of activity continuing after 4 a.m. Winds will become calm overnight, and temperatures will only dip to around 72°F, keeping conditions muggy.
Sunday: Widespread Thunderstorms Likely
Sunday is shaping up to be the wettest day of the weekend. Thunderstorms are likely throughout the day, with the highest chances (around 80%) coming late in the afternoon and early evening. Rainfall will vary, but isolated heavy downpours are possible. The high temperature will reach near 88°F, with the heat index climbing close to 98°F due to high humidity and dew points in the mid to upper 70s. Winds will be light and variable.
Sunday Night Outlook
Storm chances will diminish after sunset but won’t disappear entirely. A 40% chance of rain lingers through the night. Overnight skies will remain mostly cloudy, and temperatures will stay warm, bottoming out around 73°F.
Looking Ahead to Monday
Monday brings more of the same: warm and humid conditions with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon. Highs will again reach the upper 80s, and any storms could produce localized downpours. Winds will be light out of the southwest.
Residents should stay weather-aware through Sunday and Monday, as repeated rounds of thunderstorms could lead to brief, heavy rainfall and potentially gusty winds.
