Tallulah Interim Mayor Yvonne Lewis said this week that the local Dollar General store will reopen as a Dollar General Market after renovations.
Lewis said she spoke with a regional manager who told her the store will reopen under the Dollar General Market format.
“The Dollar General Market differs from the regular stores as they have select choices of fresh meat, produce and other grocery items. They will still sell their regular household items as well.”
A notice posted on the front doors of the store states that the location is closed and will reopen.
“To our valued Dollar General customers: This Dollar General location is temporarily closed. We apologize for the inconvenience and will reopen soon,” the notice states.
The store closed due to maintenance issues, the company said.
Lewis said the store will remain closed until renovations are complete and will reopen with the Dollar General Market format.
“We look forward to the new store and new growth for Tallulah,” Lewis said. “Any time that we have a company decide to reinvest in Tallulah that’s a good thing.”
