MONROE, LA – Affinity Health Group welcomes two new healthcare providers to its practice in Monroe this week. Rheumatology fellow Dr. Sulman Hasan will be the first physician in Affinity Health’s new rheumatology clinic, while nurse practitioner Tina Smith will open Affinity Women’s Health at Tower.
Dr. Sulman Hasan comes to Affinity Health from Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. Previously, he was a resident in internal medicine at Oak Hill Hospital, a University of South Florida–affiliated hospital in Brooksville, Florida. Dr. Hasan earned his B.A. in biology from Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey, and his M.D. from the Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica, West Indies.
Dr. Hasan is licensed to practice in both Florida and Louisiana and certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, as well as certified in National Institutes of Health Stroke and Infection Control. He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, American Muslim Health Professionals, Islamic Medical Association of North America and Radiologic Society of North America, among other professional and trade groups.
Dr. Hasan’s key focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of joint diseases and conditions, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, gout and lupus.
Also joining Affinity Health this week is Tina Smith, WHNP-BC, an experienced women’s health nurse practitioner dedicated to providing quality healthcare to women throughout their lives. Owner of Women’s Health Source in Monroe since 2008, she has a wealth of experience in gynecological and obstetric care for women and adolescents. She will now lead Affinity Women’s Health at Tower, the practice’s second women’s health location.
Smith received her B.S. in nursing from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe. She later received her M.S. in maternal and child education and an Advanced Practice Certificate in women’s health from
Northwestern State University of Louisiana in Natchitoches. She is a member of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health and the North American Menopause Society.
