The 4 seed Madison High School Jaguars will host the 29 seed Ferriday Trojans in the first round of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) basketball playoffs Friday night in Tallulah.
The Jaguars finished the regular season 25-2 and ranked No. 2 in Class 2A, District 2, according to Maxpreps.com.
The Jags and the Trojans last met in early January, when Madison defeated Ferriday 69-45.
MHS Head Coach John Holmes said having home-court advantage against a familiar foe is definitely an advantage, but one his team can't become too comfortable with.
"Being at home is something we tried to work to get all year long," Holmes said. "But, we can't get complacent. Everything is at 0-0 in the playoffs."
When it comes to preparing for a fellow District 2 team in the postseason, Holmes said his squad will have to approach the game with a different mindset than before, despite the big win over the Trojans in January.
"It's business as usual, but we have to look at the film and kind of work on our faults from the last game," he said. "We have to take advantage of this opportunity."
The Jaguars and the Trojans will meet Friday night at Madison High School in a game fans have already dubbed a "White Out" - with plans for all Jaguars supporters to where white in the stands. Tip off for Friday's matchup is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
