Tallulah’s Charles Jackson was on hand in North Carolina in July for the 2023 Masters Outdoor Championship, where he placed second in the 200-meter dash - a race he has dominated as national champion. Jackson has also been named national champion in the 100-meter dash three times, as of 2022.
Jackson also received the Athlete of the Year award for his 2022 season.
“ I am still a middle school health and physical education teacher and hope to continue to inspire them and my own two children also,” Jackson said. “It's also surprising that people my age and older is being inspired by my life. It's motivating them to be active again and compete in activities also. It's a blessing and humbling to see this; especially from people that I don't know.”
And Jackson said he is far from finished.
“In 2024, I plan to do my first WMA OUTDOOR WORLD Championship which will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden.
After, in 2025, I was planning on retiring from major competitions and just do events from time as a tool of motivation to stay healthy.”
