City of Tallulah Section 8 Director Merunda Brown has information available for scholarships for eligible Section 8 clients.
“The Louisiana Housing Council (LHC) and the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment (NAHRO) officials have a scholarship program for certain individuals who are Section 8 participants,” Brown said. “The competitive scholarships are available for applicants who are head of household, family members who are high school seniors, child of staff and graduating senior-nontraditional.”
All applicants must follow the eligibility requirements and applications must be postmarked and submitted to NAHRO by March 26, 2021.
“This is an opportunity for those residents who want to further their education and/or their children who may be high school seniors to attend a college or university,” Brown continued. “In 2019, one of our participants from the Tallulah Section 8 program received a $5,000 scholarship. That money will tremendously impact that student’s ability to complete their college degree.”
Those interested in filling out an application for one of the scholarships, should call Merunda Brown in City Hall at 318-574-0051.
