Qualifying has opened for several municipal and local offices in Madison Parish.
Voters will elect one candidate for Public Service Commission District 5 from the Democratic Party and one candidate for Public Service Commission District 5 from the Republican Party.
One Justice of the Peace will be elected to serve Districts 1 and 3.
In the City of Tallulah, voters will elect a mayor and a chief of police.
Five seats on the Tallulah City Council are also on the ballot. One council member will be elected from each of the city’s five districts, including District 1, District 2, District 3, District 4 and District 5.
The Public Service Commission regulates public utilities and common carriers in Louisiana. Justices of the peace handle certain civil matters within their jurisdictions. The mayor and council members serve as the governing authority for the City of Tallulah, while the chief of police oversees law enforcement operations within the city.
