Qualifying has ended for municipal offices in Tallulah and for Justice of the Peace in Madison Parish, setting the ballot for the May 16 election.
District 5 Councilman Toriano Wells was re-elected after qualifying as the only candidate for the District 5 seat. Jonathan Mark Federick was also elected without opposition after qualifying as the only candidate for Justice of the Peace for Districts 1 and 3.
Incumbent Carla Turner-Harris is seeking re-election to the City Council. She is the only incumbent council member on the ballot. All other council seats will be filled by new members following the election.
In the mayor’s race, candidates include Carlos Ford, Arthur R. Lee, Yvonne Lewis, Thomas Mitchell, Gloria Owens Hayden, Kendrell Robinson and Antonio Wilson.
Incumbent Chief of Police Buster McCoy qualified for re-election. Donnell Rose also qualified for the position.
