At the Tallulah Police Department, much of the daily work happens behind the scenes.
Alicia Robinson serves as dispatcher, administrator and clerk of court for the city’s municipal court system. A native of the area, she was born in Mississippi and raised in Tallulah.
“Well, I dispatch. I also am the administrator and I'm also the clerk with the court, municipal court system,” Robinson said.
Her responsibilities span emergency communications, court coordination and administrative oversight.
“I'm behind the scenes. I'm the one who's pushing all the paperwork, making sure several entities get what they need,” she said. That includes arrest packages, crash reports and documentation required by other agencies.
Robinson also serves as a liaison to the courthouse.
“If they need anything it'll be me,” she said.
In her dispatch role, Robinson supervises personnel who work 12-hour shifts. She began her career in dispatch and continues to assist when needed.
“Starting from dispatch training them and then doing dispatch. Still, even in my administrative role … answering calls, sending out all the emergency companies and whatnot, whenever they need them, wherever they need them,” she said.
She said no two days are the same.
“You can't really tell what's going to happen on a day-to-day basis,” Robinson said.
The job requires staying current on legal and procedural changes.
“The law changes on a regular basis. So always staying abreast of the law and how things work,” she said.
Robinson said one of the things she values about Tallulah is its size and sense of familiarity.
“What I like about Tallulah, it's small. Everyone knows everyone,” she said.
She encouraged residents and visitors alike to prioritize safety.
“Please be safe,” Robinson said.
From coordinating emergency responses to processing court documents, Robinson’s role supports the daily operations of the Tallulah Police Department and helps ensure the city’s law enforcement functions continue without interruption.
