In May 2025, the Outpatient Medical Center (OMC) underwent an unannounced Joint Commission Survey, a vigorous audit process which ultimately resulted in the organization earning accreditations in Ambulatory Health Care and Behavioral Health Care and Human Services. OMC is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) servicing Natchitoches, Tallulah and Leesville, providing patient care, dental and counseling services.
Among over 1500 FQHCs in the nation, OMC joins a small group of approximately 330 FQHCs who seek and obtain accreditation - a sign of a commitment to quality health care and safety.
Accreditation by the Joint Commission sets the organization apart because it utilizes the highest standards in health care. Clients, patients and their families can be confident they are receiving high-quality treatment when seeking care from a Joint Commission-accredited organization.
While patient safety is the primary reason for Joint Commission accreditation, there are other benefits including enhanced risk management and risk reduction, a greater ability to attract qualified staff and improved credibility within the community.
According to OMC’s CEO Dr. Guidry, “OMC joins the ranks of a small group of FQHCs in the nation. It is a statement of our commitment to continuously evaluate and improve our services and our clinic environment. Being accredited is OMC’s way of telling patients that we want you to trust our commitment to excellence in healthcare.” OMC gives appreciation to employees who follow procedures and guidelines needed to maintain patient safety and compliance.
