Louis Matthew “Blue Lou” Caldwell passed away Sept. 10, 2022, in Monroe after ongoing health issues.
Louis was born in Vicksburg, Miss. Jan. 24, 1957, to James David (JD) Caldwell and Genevieve Minsky Caldwell. He was the youngest of a family of five girls and two boys. Louis grew up in Tallulah, where he graduated from Tallulah High School in the Class of 1975.

Louis is survived by two sons, Noah Caldwell, of Land O’Lakes Fla., and Louis M. Caldwell Jr., of Monroe; two daughters, Lauren Caldwell Robinson (Blake), of Monroe, and Katie Caldwell of Shreveport; one brother, James D. “Buddy” Caldwell Jr., of Tallulah; four sisters, Lisbeth Abramson, of Oceanside, Calif., Sandra Jolson (Alfred) of Winter Park, Fla., Sara Bess Czuleger, of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Irene Gosey (Jim), of Slidell, La.; six grandchildren, Kyle Sibley, Dane Sibley, Kylie Caldwell, Sadie Caldwell, Elliot Davis and Genevieve Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kristen Caldwell; and one sister, Susan Caldwell Evans.
Louis was a very generous person who would give anything he had to anyone in need, even when he had very little himself. Louis had a love of photography, cooking, Mel Brooks and his faithful dog, Etta. He had a lifelong love of music. Louis was a very talented musician and loved getting together with old friends to play the blues.
The family will have a private ceremony/memorial to be announced at a later date.
