Residents of Madison Parish will have the opportunity to receive free legal advice at an upcoming Ask A Lawyer session on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Richmond Community Center, located at 598 Wood Street in Richmond, LA.
Organized with the support and encouragement of Judge Angela Claxton, this event is part of a broader effort to bring accessible legal resources to rural communities. Local volunteer attorneys will offer one-on-one consultations to the public on a wide range of civil legal issues. No criminal matters will be addressed.
Intake will begin at 4:30 p.m., with attorney sessions starting promptly at 5:00 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to sit down privately with a volunteer lawyer and receive guidance at no cost.
“We are grateful for Judge Claxton’s leadership in helping make this event possible,” said Juanita Gooding, Executive Director of the Northeast Louisiana Bar Foundation. “We believe everyone deserves access to legal help, regardless of income or background. Ask A Lawyer gives folks a chance to sit down with a real attorney, ask questions, and get straight answers.” This is the first Ask A Lawyer session in Madison Parish, and organizers hope it will become a regular opportunity for residents to receive trusted legal help with issues such as family law, housing, consumer matters, successions, and more.
