In 1953, Rosa Parks refused to go to the back of the bus in Birmingham. She was a seamstress and a civil rights activist. She was arrested for civil disobedience for violating Alabama’s segregated bus laws - which were subsequently held unconstitutional under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.

Billy Ray Jones died unexpectedly at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, Texas, Wed., Oct. 7, 2020, at the age of 62. Jones was born in Tallulah on Sept. 14, 1958, to Mr. J.L. Jones. He spent his childhood in Madison Parish, where he graduated from Tallulah High School in 1976.

Outdoors in the Sun: Fall feeling at grocery store

I have been struggling to make time to sit on a limb with stick and string. Whether due to office duties or relief effort spraying for mosquitoes from the recent south Louisiana hurricanes, the phone won’t stop ringing and the email won’t stop dinging. As well, I’m sure you realize “our” favorite month of the year is halfway gone.
