A death reported to law enforcement in a phone call last week has officially been ruled a homicide by the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office and a suspect is now jailed and facing a charge of murder in the second degree.
According MPSO officials, deputies and investigators were called to the scene of a “suspicious death” at lot 200 on Federick Street Thursday, where a man was found deceased. Officials said, while it was initially unclear what caused the individual’s death, law enforcement personnel did treat the scene as that of a homicide.
Officials said sufficient evidence was gathered to confirm foul play in the death and, Friday at approximately 7:30 p.m., 46-year-old Albert T. Brown was taken into custody following a traffic stop in Tallulah.
Brown was booked into the Madison Parish Jail and charged with second degree murder.
As of press time Tuesday, law enforcement officials had not yet released the name of the victim or the official cause of death.
