COVID-19 small business closures in Louisiana pegged at 33.2%

The share of Louisiana small businesses still closed compared to January 2020, just prior to the onset of the pandemic, stands at 33.2 percent, the 13th highest percentage among 45 states examined, according to an online data tracker managed by Harvard University.

Village of Delta renames street in honor of late alderwoman

The Village of Delta has approved a resolution renaming Ouachita Avenue, officially declaring the roadway Wall Avenue in honor of the late Alderwoman Sammie Wall.

According to Village of Delta officials, Wall was born in Vicksburg in 1926, the middle child of three siblings.

Last night, (November 25) the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a male being shot on North Walnut Street. The male suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transferred to the local hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.

 On Mon., Oct. 12, investigators with the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office made three additional arrests in the case of the fatal shooting of a juvenile that took place Sun., Oct. 11, at Wyche Apartments. Danielle Wesley, 45, Armone Wesley, 22, and James Robinson, 24, were arrested and charged with Principal to 2nd Degree Murder.
