The Madison Parish 4-H Blessing Box project continued through August with support from the Madison Journal and several local residents.
Publisher Timothy Holdiness and Office Manager Sharon Guice managed the August donations. Other contributors included Deonte Williams, Rev. Jessie Jones and Maxine Jones.
The Blessing Box, located at Loving Hearts Ministry, was dedicated in April during a ceremony led by 4-H Junior Leaders. It operates on a “Take what you need, leave what you can” model and aims to support community members experiencing food insecurity.
Earlier this year, 4-H members filled the box in May with donations collected during a canned food drive. Since then, other groups have joined the effort. 4-H agent Andrea Jinks said February, March and May are currently open and encouraged other churches, businesses, or community groups to participate.
Groups interested in sponsoring a month can contact Jinks at 318-574-2465 or message her directly. Once a group is confirmed, a list of suggested items and instructions for restocking will be provided.
