Not one. Not two. Not even an absurd number like five touchdowns was enough for Tallulah Academy running back Brayson Morson in Friday's road win over the River Oaks Mustangs. Morson tallied an eye-popping 8 total scores in the game, as the Trojans blew past its last regular season road opponent in an 82-48 offensive landslide.
Morson piled up 402 total yards on only 18 carries, averaging 22.3 yards per and getting in the end zone on runs of 49, 45, 56, 70, 48, and 55 yards.
Quarterback Hayes Hopkins also found the end zone with his legs, jetting to pay dirt from 26 yards out and hit two different receivers for touchdowns through the air with a 40-yard pass to tight end Cade Morgan and 10-yard toss to running back Gage Palmer.
Hopkins finished the night with 93 total yards in the air, completing 85.7 percent of his passes.
Defensively, Denton Ray led the way for the Trojans, racking up 7 tackles, 5 for a loss, and 2 sacks. Palmer recorded 4 tackles on the night, with 1.5 for a loss, and J.T. McDaniel finished the night with 4.5 tackles and 1 for a loss.
The Trojans finished the night with 603 total yards of offense to the Mustangs' 440. TA out-rushed River Oaks 510 yards to 25, but trailed in passing yards 93 to a whopping 415 through the air for the Mustangs.
Friday's win gives TA a 7-3 record on the year with a 2-0 mark in its district, according to MaxPreps.com.
This week, the Trojans prepare to face its final regular-season opponent at home on Senior Night versus the 3-6 Claiborne Academy Rebels in a conference match up.
Last week, the Rebels fell 52-8 to Sharkey Issaquena Academy.
Friday's match up between the Trojans and the Rebels is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. in Tallulah at R.A. "Racer" Holstead Memorial Stadium.
