After a slow start to the 2023 season that saw Delhi Charter School lose its first four games, the Gators have stormed back to life, piling up three straight wins, including Friday's 54-0 shutout of the Tensas Panthers.
Now 3-4 and 2-0 in 1A, District 4, the Gators' playoff hopes are alive and well. DCS started fast Friday night, putting on a show for the home crowd with 22 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second to take a 36-0 lead into halftime.
Things didn't get any easier for the Panthers in the second half as the Gators scored 12 points in the third frame and six in the final period, while its defense pitched the shutout for its second conference win.
DCS and head coach Jeremy Foote will look to take its momentum into this week's homecoming match up with the 2-5 Block Bears.
The Bears are 1-1 in district play and a win keeps DCS undefeated in its conference.
Friday's match up between the Gators and the Bears is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. in Delhi.
