Louisiana Delta Community College’s Tallulah campus played host to Tallulah Mayor Charles Finlayson, as well as LDCC Chancellor Randy Esters, Thurs., Nov. 4, for an opportunity to see first hand why its welding program has created more than a literal spark in the community.
With the program gaining traction and popularity with students, LDCC held its “Chancellor Challenge” last week, giving Esters, Finlayson and a host of other LDCC officials the chance to get a hands-on opportunity to see just what students are learning in the college’s welding facility in Tallulah.
Darian Atkins, executive director of community and public relations for LDCC, said Esters was looking forward to the chance to experience a bit of what his students learn on a daily basis through the program.
“He wants to be here amongst the students,” Atkins said. “He thought it would be fun for them to see him and others in leadership attempt to do what they are doing now; to know how they do it. So, it’s just another way for him to be able to relate to the students.”
